Recognizing the best of innovation and entrepreneurship in Japan – U.S. business

The Japan – U.S. Innovation Awards Symposium is the signature event of the Innovation Awards Program, the longest running annual program in the Bay Area celebrating the links between Silicon Valley and Japan innovation. Each year, the Japan – U.S. Innovation Awards selects one innovative high-growth company from Japan and one from the U.S. that are already beginning to transform a major industry or value chain. This year we’re excited to announce that the Sunbridge Emerging Leader winners are Figma (U.S.) and Treasure Data (Japan)! Figma Chief Product Officer Yuhki Yamashita and Treasure Data CEO and Co-Founder Kazuki Ohta will accept their awards and participate in a panel discussion on innovation. The symposium also includes an Innovation Showcase recognizing five exciting Japanese start-up companies of interest to Silicon Valley.

Keynote speaker Akira Amari, Member of the Japanese House of Representatives, joins us, as well as Shixiang Shane Gu, Member of the Technical Staff at OpenAI. Amari will be featured in a fireside chat about Japan’s efforts to adopt green energy technologies, while Gu will give a talk about generative AI and its future in Japan.

The Japan – U.S. Innovation Awards Program, the longest running annual program in the Bay Area celebrating the links between Silicon Valley and Japan innovation, is produced by the Japan Society of Northern California in cooperation with the Stanford University US-Asia Technology Management Center.
