Women on the Board: The Next Step for Women in Japanese Business

Join us for an engaging discussion about the complexities and practicalities of being a businesswoman in Japan. Although diversity in the workforce has become a hot topic in Japan, it is still rare to find women in roles that involve exercising corporate governance.  In this special session of our Stanford course on “Japanese Business Culture and Systems” our panelists will tell about their own experiences working at the top of Japanese organizations, discuss the challenges and solutions to increasing participation by women on corporate boards of directors in Japan, and outline their vision of what women will need to do to be successful in board roles in Japan.

Panelists:

- Naomi Koshi, Co-Founder and CEO of OnBoard KK (and former mayor, Otsu City)

- Fujiyo Ishiguro, Former Chairman/President/CEO, Netyear Group

- Kimberley Williams, Senior Program Manager, US-ATMC (Moderator)
