Speaker: Helen Hardacre, Reischauer Institute Professor of Japanese Religions and Society, Harvard University Pilgrimage mandalas of the Ise Shrines will be examined in connection with gazetteers, maps, diaries, miracle tale collections, and works of art in order to illustrate the richness of gazetteers as a basis for research on Japanese religions.
