SILKROAD LECTURE SERIES
Armim Selbitschka Assistant Professor of Sinology , University of Munich
Dr. Armin Selbitschka, Assistant Professor of Sinology at the University of Munich, will discuss what "prestige" goods meant on the Silk Road in the 2nd through the 5th Centuries AD. How can today's archaeologists recognize them as so-called prestige goods? By surveying archaeological findings recovered from tombs of the Central Asian Tarim Basin, the lecture will answer these questions and relate the answers to other archaeological discoveries located along the Chinese sections of the Silk Road.
