Conference Travel Grants for Graduate Students
Travel grants for Stanford graduate students to present papers at major academic conferences. Graduate student conferences are not accepted. Letters of invitation and/or acceptance of your paper, an abstract, as well as additional information regarding the conference are required.
Both US and international students are eligible to apply.
8 travel grants ($500 each, 4 for the China field and 4 for the Japan field)

Research Travel Grants for CEAS M.A. Students
Travel grants for East Asian Studies M.A. students at Stanford University to travel abroad to East Asia for research. Research purpose, budget, and advisor approval required. Maximum grant is $1,500. 4 grants available per year.
Deadline: two months in advance of the intended research trip

Summer Internship Program in East Asia
The Center for East Asian Studies offers a fellowship program to support Stanford East Asian Studies MA candidates in internships in China, Japan, or Korea. Graduate students will gain practical experience in international or local corporate, media, non-profit, educational, or government organizations, which may be incorporated into their research.
Applicants must have competency in the relevant Asian language before starting their summer internship, as well as relevant academic or work experience.

FLAS Academic Year Fellowships
Provides tuition and stipend for students in M.A. or Ph.D. programs who plan to do work in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean language and area studies.

Summer FLAS Fellowships
Provides tuition and stipend for students in M.A. or Ph.D. programs who plan to undertake intensive advanced language study in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean during the summer quarter. CEAS Summer Grants
Provides tuition and stipend for students in M.A. and Ph.D. programs for academically related summer work such as formal language training, required course work, field work, dissertation research, or dissertation write-up. Fellowship for the Study of Women in Asia
One dissertation fellowship ($10,000 stipend plus TGR fees) awarded each year for a graduate student at Stanford to complete research and write-up on women in Asia.
