I-Chun Fan- Executive Director, Center for Geographic Information Science, Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences,Academia Sinica
Hsiung-Ming Liao- Assistant Research Specialist , Center for Geographic Information Science, Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica

This presentation aims to share recent project results of the Center for Geographic Information Science, Academia Sinica. The results cover a wide range of archival sources such as documents (texts and statistical data) and images (photos, maps and paintings). The Center creates GIS platforms to manage geo-spatial/temporal-spatial information in the databases. By exploring these sources, the platforms render significantly innovative perspectives for researchers in the humanities and social sciences on achieving their goals.

As one of the most important elements in modern digital archival programs, applying the GIS platforms allows a comprehensive spatial-temporal framework through the geo-spatial approach for interdisciplinary researches. With the web-based platforms and querying capability, the user group has expanded and the various values of data have been exhibited through this influential approach.
