FINANCIAL AID

Students interested in the Master's Degree program in East Asian Studies may apply for the following types of support (contingent upon availability) at the time of their initial application for admission. Eligibility varies.

For Both US and International Students:
Financial Aid from Stanford University. Check "yes" on the application form. You will then be considered for the following fellowships: Japan Studies (full tuition) or Chinese Studies (full tuition).

For US Citizens and Permanent Residents:

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships (full tuition and stipend). You must apply separately; for more information, click here .
Federal Work Study. File a FAFSA and supplementary form with the
Financial Aid Office,
financialaid@stanford.edu.
(The FWS program offers part-time employment, with eligibility based on need) Also tell the department you wish to apply for work study.

NOTE: Applications for financial aid are considered independently of applications for admission. A request for support does not affect the applicant's chances of admission.

Many Stanford graduate students hold fellowships from outside sources. Applicants to Stanford programs are encouraged to apply for such fellowships. Information should be obtained from the organization concerned or from the applicant's current academic institution.

The following resource is a general listing of fellowships maintained by Cornell University and may be a helpful search tool.

Cornell Fellowship Database includes an extensive list of summer and postdoctoral opportunities and contains detailed descriptions of programs (unfortunetely there are no links to web sites)
